"Passport To Manhood is a journey towards becoming a young man. My approach to this program is to give our young boys an opportunity to see themselves as young adults and what are some of the challenges they may face. We cover all topics from our Passport to Manhood guide book, but we also cover many topics that are not in the manual. This includes breaking news, such as the Flint, Michigan water crisis. We asked our members for some possible solutions and ideas that would be helpful to our fellow Boys & Girls Club members from Flint. Our members came up with some wonderful ideas. They wanted to collect water and send it to Flint and they also requested to purchase filters to help them clean their water. I also give a lot of time to conversations in our group to cover things that may be going on in school or in their community, and just a chance to talk about life, fun and sad things alike. All this while still meeting our goals within the Passport To Manhood manual. A hands on approach seems to be the most enjoyable way to run this program."
