Our Focus
EXPANDING EDUCATION AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TOMORROW'S LEADERS
INNOVATION
We continually seek to expand learning and enrichment opportunities across all programs that keep students engaged outside of school. One successful initiative is the recent launch of 21st century learning centers in the New Rochelle middle and high schools that support students academically and offer enjoyable activities that complement their courses of study.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND MENTAL WELLNESS
Today's kids and teens face numerous challenges, pressures, and inequities that create barriers to success, and we're working to help them build the skills necessary to manage their emotions and build resiliency. Through initiatives such as restorative circles, clubhouse wellness centers, and support services at our school sites, we're encouraging meaningful dialogues and strengthening relationships with our youth. Our staff also have been trained to recognize changes in members' though, feelings, and behaviors, and know when to get help.
COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS
To help young people meet the workforce challenges of tomorrow, they need safe spaces, positive mentorship, and work experiences today. We continue to expand programs designed to ensure that our members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.
In doing so, we encourage youth to explore their interests and passions; develop their employability skills; and apply their knowledge in real-world work experiences.
STEM
Exposure to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is critical during the tween years, when young people’s natural curiosity drives interest and builds capacity for success in these disciplines. With partners such as The STEM Alliance, we provide hands-on, fun, activity-based STEM activities that connect youth to science themes they encounter every day. More important, we're encouraging students to innovate, solve problems, think critically, and collaborate.
